3)Extracting oil from oil shale requires more processing to get to the actual oil, while in the tar sands, oil is practically there for the taking and is a shorter process.
4)Off shore drilling may reduce greenhouse gases in the future because the EROI of drilling off shore is quite hugh, so we will not require as much of other sources of energy of oil is prominent and has a high EROI.
5)One way I use best first principle in my everyday life is when eating homemade dessert. I tend to eat up the newer one instead of the older one if he have two, because I want to eat what is the most fresh, not what I should get rid of first.
